Privacy Policy for InShortly
Last Updated: March 14, 2026
InShortly ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension handles your data. We built InShortly with a privacy-first approach, ensuring your data remains in your control.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not track your browsing history.
- We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email, or IP address.
- We do not sell, trade, or share any of your data with advertisers or third parties.
2. Data We Process
- Webpage Content: When you actively click the "Summarize" button or use the Right-Click "Explain" feature, InShortly temporarily extracts the text from your currently active tab. This text is sent to our secure AI providers (such as Groq, OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic) solely for the purpose of generating your requested summary. This text is not stored on our servers.
- Local Storage: Your settings, theme preferences, remaining free credits, and personal API keys are saved locally on your own device using Chrome's secure local storage. We do not have access to your API keys.
3. Third-Party Services
InShortly utilizes secure third-party APIs (OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Groq) to process text and generate summaries. By using InShortly, the text you choose to summarize is subject to the privacy policies of the respective AI provider you are routing the request through.
4. Contact Us
